Position Summary

The Marketing Manager, Community Rugby, will work closely with the three community councils—Senior Club, College, and Youth & High School—to tell the powerful stories of American rugby, inspire participation, and strengthen the game’s growth nationwide.

This role leads national community marketing strategies, champions grassroots storytelling, and empowers rugby leaders to attract and retain members. The position is key in driving USA Rugby’s goals:

  • Increase total membership by 10%
  • Improve member retention by 35,000+
  • Expand engagement through compelling community content

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute a unified national community marketing strategy
  • Support and align council-level and club-level marketing efforts
  • Inspire the next generation using athletes, coaches, and community role models

Community-Centred Storytelling & Content Creation

  • Create engaging stories highlighting players, referees, tournaments, and events
  • Build content pipelines to expand digital and social reach
  • Manage multimedia content with tools like Photoshop, Canva, and CapCut

Council Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with councils to align messaging while respecting their unique identities
  • Host collaboration sessions with council representatives
  • Share marketing best practices and performance insights

Partnership & Sponsorship Marketing

  • Promote community partnerships and sponsorship opportunities
  • Collaborate with USA Rugby’s commercial team to grow grassroots sponsorship visibility

Brand Management & Digital Strategy

  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across digital platforms
  • Manage website content, email campaigns, and national social accounts
  • Monitor analytics to optimise engagement and growth

Qualifications

  • Proven success in marketing, communications, or brand strategy (sports/community preferred)
  • Strong storytelling and digital content creation skills
  • Experience with Photoshop, Canva, and CapCut preferred
  • Knowledge of the U.S. rugby landscape, including Senior Club, College, and Youth & High School
  • Skilled in digital platforms, analytics, and project management
  • Excellent relationship-building and collaboration abilities

Compensation

Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000

Full-time, exempt position with national travel required.
