IIT Indore Summer Internship 2026: Research & Faculty Mentorship

The IIT Indore Summer Internship 2026 is a premier research-oriented program designed for students who want to experience high-level academic inquiry. Unlike industry internships, this program focuses on active research problems, where students work directly under the mentorship of IIT Indore faculty members.

This year, the program is structured with specific project lists for both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG)students, covering domains like AI/ML in Astronomy, Thermal Engineering, and Climate Modelling.

Program Highlights

• Duration: Minimum 1 month to Maximum 2 months.

• Internship Window: May 16, 2026, to July 19, 2026.

• Mode: On-campus (Selected students must work at the IIT Indore campus).

• Certificate: An official internship completion certificate is issued by the Dean of Academic Affairs.

• Astronomy (DAASE): Big Data and AI/ML applications in radio astronomy; Space Weather modeling.

Eligibility Criteria

To ensure a high standard of research, IIT Indore has set clear academic benchmarks:

1. Student Status: Must be a bona fide student currently enrolled in a recognized UG or PG program.

2. Academic Record: * For UG: At least 60% marks in 10+2 and a current CGPA equivalent to First Division.

   • For PG: At least 60% marks or First Division in the previous qualifying degree and the current PG program.

3. Faculty Consent: Applicants must obtain written/email consent from a prospective faculty mentor at IIT Indore before applying.

Fees and Accommodation

Unlike many corporate internships, this academic program requires a fee from external students to cover laboratory and administrative costs:

• Internship Fee: * UG Students: ₹3,000 per month.

  • PG Students: ₹5,000 per month.

• Accommodation: Available in campus hostels (subject to availability).

  • Cost: ₹3,000 per month + 12% GST

• Food: Payable as per actuals (approximately ₹115 per day for three meals).

How to Apply

The application process is entirely online and time-sensitive.

1. Select a Mentor: Browse the Official List of Faculty Mentors and reach out via email with your CV to seek their consent.

2. Get Documentation Ready: Prepare your No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your parent institution and the faculty consent letter.

3. Fill the Google Form: Complete the mandatory application form on the IIT Indore portal.

4. Payment: After shortlisting in April, selected students will receive a link to pay the internship and accommodation fees.

Important Dates

• Payment Link Release: Late April 2026.
