Role Overview
CaratLane is recruiting a BI Developer Intern at its Mohali office for a 6-month mentor-led internship program.
This technical role goes beyond simple visual chart design. The intern will focus heavily on backend business intelligence engineering—building robust semantic models, designing star/snowflake schemas, writing custom DAX measures, setting up automated refresh schedules, and implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) across enterprise e-commerce datasets.
Key Responsibilities

Semantic Modelling & ETL: Construct scalable semantic data models and automate refresh schedules using Power Query and SQL.

DAX & Calculations: Write efficient DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) measures and calculated columns for complex e-commerce metrics (e.g., inventory velocity, customer lifetime value, fulfilment SLA tracking).

Data Warehousing Concepts: Implement star and snowflake schema designs, managing relationships, cardinality, and data grain.

Row-Level Security & Governance: Configure Row-Level Security (RLS) and user access controls to safeguard sensitive business metrics across operational units.

Performance Tuning & Optimisation: Optimise DAX formulas and Power BI report performance using DAX Studio and Tabular Editor.

Documentation & Version Control: Maintain technical documentation, model dictionaries, and source control using Git.
Eligibility & Candidate Requirements
Target Academic Streams

Degrees: B.E. / B.Tech (Any stream), BCA / MCA, B.Sc (Statistics / Mathematics), B.Com / BBA, or MBA.

Graduating Batches: 2026 or 2027 graduating batch students and recent graduates.

Academic Threshold: 60% / 6.0 CGPA and above preferred (strong projects, certifications, or GitHub work weighed alongside marks).
Skill Requirements

Core Technical Stack: Working knowledge of Power BI, SQL, DAX, Power Query, and Data Modeling principles.

Preferred Technical Stack: Exposure to SSAS/Tabular models, Row-Level Security, query performance tuning, or Git version control.

Soft Skills: Clear written English communication, analytical problem-solving skills, and ownership of technical deliverables.

Work Arrangement: Must be willing to work on-site full-time from CaratLane’s office in Mohali, Punjab (workstations provided).
