Operating within the Strategy & Transformation (S&T) organisation, these digital hubs serve as the primary engineering growth engine for the enterprise. The hubs are tasked with building scalable enterprise cloud solutions, unlocking operational efficiencies through advanced data modelling, and reimagining data analytics platforms to drive high-velocity commercial decisions.

About the Role: Graduate Data Engineer

PepsiCo is seeking a high-energy, technically proficient Graduate Data Engineer to join its elite Strategy & Transformation division at the Digital Hub in Vitoria, Spain. This structured graduate program is specifically engineered for ambitious final-year students and recent graduates looking to transition directly from academic environments into complex, production-grade cloud data operations.

As a Graduate Data Engineer, you will be fully embedded within a global Data & Analytics (DA&I) team. Under the direct guidance of senior data architects and technical mentors, you will contribute directly to live, real-time data pipelines and digital transformation initiatives. Your technical focus will span Data Engineering pipelines, relational/NoSQL data modelling, Big Data distributed processing, and AI integrations in data frameworks. This program provides an intensive engineering runway, giving you full exposure to modern software development workflows and serving as a key pipeline for future full-time associate roles at PepsiCo.

Key Responsibilities & Data Engineering Workflows

  • Pipeline Development & Testing: Support the end-to-end design, development, optimisation, and testing of enterprise data ingestion and processing frameworks.

  • Big Data Processing: Assist in configuring and scripting ETL/ELT data modules using core data tools (Python, PySpark, and SQL) to manage high-volume datasets.

  • Requirements Parsing & Systems Analysis: Collaborate with data product owners to analyse functional business requirements and translate them into technical system documentation.

  • SDLC Execution: Apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices, version control tracking, and basic DataOps principles across all assigned project modules.

  • Global Architecture Collaboration: Work seamlessly with distributed data squads, participating in agile scrums and sharing project modules across cross-functional global teams.

  • Executive Technical Presentation: Synthesise your technical contributions and present key engineering outcomes, architecture diagrams, and metrics to leadership at the program’s conclusion.
