About the Role: General Accounting Analyst (GA Analyst)

Castrol India is accepting applications for a full-time, permanent General Accounting Analyst (GA Analyst / Financial Analyst) to join its central Finance & Accounting team in Pune, India.

Operating inside a sophisticated Global Business Services (GBS) environment, you will take absolute ownership of group reporting delivery, statutory accounts preparation, and multi-layered tax analysis for Castrol’s highly complex corporate entities. This mid-level role requires an agile mindset capable of balancing fluctuating, fluid international reporting mandates with absolute precision. Acting as a strategic analytical anchor, you will interface directly with external auditors, internal statutory tax teams, and regional business leaders across varied time zones to optimize processes and drive strict regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities & Financial Reporting Workflows

  • End-to-End Ledger Coordination: Oversee the accurate recording of intricate corporate transactions, managing journal ledger entries, fixed asset postings, and cash allocations.

  • Group & Statutory Reporting: Deliver time-sensitive group reporting packages and support the generation of compliant statutory accounts and localized tax analyses.

  • Period End Close Support: Prepare comprehensive documentation, account reconciliations, and strategic balance adjustments for monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close cycles.

  • Audit & Liaison Management: Act as a central point of contact for external auditors and statutory tax teams to ensure rapid dispute resolution and flawless compliance.

  • Operational Excellence & Auditing: Review financial reports generated by account executives to validate ledger integrity, balance accounts receivable systems, and follow up on overdue items.

  • Team Leadership & Feedback: Provide active feedback, direction, and structural task-planning to junior team members to maintain high-quality shared services delivery.

Candidate Prerequisites & Preferred Criteria

To qualify for this complex accounting scope, candidates must display solid analytical thinking, structural process control knowledge, and clear financial communication skills.

Required Academic & Professional Credentials:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or an allied quantitative discipline (B.B.A.,B.M.S., or B.Com).

  • Professional Qualification: A recognised accounting certification (such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or CA) is highly preferred.

  • Experience Track Record: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience operating within a general ledger accounting or corporate financial reporting role.

  • Language Skills: High professional competency and fluency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Technical Skill Sets:

  • Enterprise Software Mastery: Prior structural experience navigating major ERP environments, specifically SAP or JDE (JD Edwards) systems.

  • Shared Services Exposure: Familiarity working within a global Shared Service Centre (SSC) or international corporate business unit handling cross-border data.

  • Process Engineering: Demonstrated background in business process improvement, digital automation tools, and internal financial process controls.
