She broke the record for the most runs in ODIs in a calendar year by women’s cricket. The landmark came when Mandhana hit a six off Ayabonga Khaka in the eighth over, surpassing Belinda Clark’s 970-run record set in 1997.
Belinda Clark, a pioneer of women’s cricket, also holds the distinction of scoring the first-ever double century in ODIs, making 229 not out against Denmark in the Women’s World Cup held at the MIG ground in Mumbai.
Mandhana’s Incredible 2025 Campaign
Before this match, Mandhana had already scored 959 runs in 17 ODIs in 2025, including four centuries and three half-centuries, at an average of 59.93. Despite a slow start in the World Cup, scoring 8 and 23 against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the southpaw bounced back spectacularly to achieve this historic milestone.
Journey in Women’s World Cups
This is Mandhana’s third ODI World Cup. She was part of the Indian side that finished runners-up to England in 2017. With her current form, she is also approaching the 5,000-run milestone, which will make her only the second Indian and fifth overall to reach this landmark in ODIs.
