🌐 Job Title: Freelance Marketing Analyst
📍Location: Remote / Hybrid — depending on project needs (may require occasional onsite or client visits)
💼 Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Marketing Analyst to join Cognizant’s marketing team on a freelance basis. The candidate will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to help drive decisions and optimize marketing campaigns. You’ll work across multiple marketing channels, interface with cross-functional teams, and deliver insights that improve ROI, customer engagement, and support strategy formulation.
⭐ Key Responsibilities
- Collect, consolidate and validate marketing data from various sources (e.g. CRM systems, web analytics, advertising platforms, social media, email campaigns, marketing automation tools).
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to monitor marketing performance metrics such as leads, conversion rates, cost per acquisition, return on ad spend (ROAS), customer lifetime value (CLV), etc.
- Perform deep-dive analyses to identify trends, insights, gaps, opportunities. For example, which channels are over/under-performing; which audience segments are most profitable; what content or campaigns are creating engagement; attribution modeling.
- Support planning and forecasting, e.g. forecasting campaign performance, budgeting for marketing spend, helping allocate spend among channels.
- Work cross-functionally with creative/content teams, digital marketing, performance marketing, field marketing, etc., to recommend optimizations, adjust strategy, and improve campaign effectiveness
- Provide actionable recommendations. For example, optimizing underperforming ads, refining segmentation, fine‐tuning creative messaging or timing, or proposing A/B or multivariate tests.
- Assist in creating SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for analytics workflows (data collection, reporting cadence, quality checks, etc.).
- Ensure data quality, consistency, accuracy in reports and dashboards.
- Stay updated on industry marketing trends, analytics tools, techniques, best practices; evaluate new tools or methodologies for adoption.
- Present findings & insights to stakeholders (team leads, managers) via presentations or written summaries.
✅ Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Analytics / Statistics / Finance / Economics, or related field. Master’s / Advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (e.g. 3-5+ years) in marketing analytics or data analysis, preferably in a B2B or technology / services environment.
- Strong technical skills in analytics tools / platforms: e.g. Google Analytics (GA4), Adobe Analytics, web-analytics tools; experience with ad platforms (Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta etc.); proficiency in Excel; ideally skills in SQL, BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.).
- Familiarity with marketing automation / CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo) is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels: paid search, display, social media, email, content marketing, affiliate marketing, etc.
- Experience with attribution modeling, conversion tracking, A/B testing or multivariate testing.
- Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, ability to work with large datasets.
- Good communication skills: able to explain complex data into simple, actionable insights; good presentation skills.
- Time-management, ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a freelance project.
👉 Deliverables / Outputs
- Regular performance reports/dashboards (weekly / bi-weekly / monthly) covering campaign metrics, channel performance, cost metrics, ROI etc.
- Insights & recommendations for optimizing ongoing campaigns.
- Forecasts / projections for marketing spend & returns.
- Audits / reviews of past campaigns to learn and feed into future improvements.
- Documentation of metrics definitions, methodologies, con-ops (how things are measured / tracked), to ensure consistency.
- Presentation(s) to stakeholders summarizing analysis, findings, and suggestions.

- Access to required tools/platforms (or ability to get access): analytics dashboards, ad platform accounts, etc.
- High confidentiality / handling of sensitive business data.
✅ Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Prior experience working with or for consulting / professional services firms.
- Experience in Cognizant’s verticals (IT services, digital transformation, etc.)
- Experience with advanced analytics: predictive modeling, machine learning, big data.
- Experience integrating offline & online marketing data.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations (GDPR, data protection laws) especially if analyzing user behavior / customer data.
