We are seeking a Data Engineer Intern to join our Data Intelligence & Analytics team in Austin, Texas. This role is designed for students who are passionate about systems engineering and building full-stack data solutions that fuel business-critical initiatives.
About the Team: Data Intelligence & Analytics
The Data Intelligence & Analytics team builds Cloudflare’s centralised analytics platform and cloud data lake. Our goal is to democratize data, providing a 360-degree view of the business through self-service tools that drive actionable insights for Finance, Sales, Product, and Engineering teams.
What You’ll Do: Full-Stack Data Solutions
As an intern, you won’t just be “learning”—you will be delivering full-stack data solutions across the entire lifecycle: collect, ingest, process, store, and deliver.
Key Responsibilities:

Architect Data Solutions: Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models and architect ETL pipelines.

Business Intelligence: Identify key metrics and build executive-facing dashboards to track high-priority initiatives.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Perform analysis to establish cause and effect, communicating findings to stakeholders across Finance, Marketing, and Customer Support.

Systems Engineering: Apply modern enterprise data architectures and design patterns to scale data delivery.
Requirements & Desirable Skills
We are looking for curious individuals who thrive in fast-paced STEM environments.

Education: Currently enrolled in an M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.

Programming: Proficiency in Go, Python, SQL, or Java.

Distributed Systems: Experience with Spark or equivalent frameworks.

Internship Period: Ability to commit to a 12-week summer internship.

Presence: Ability to work in-office 3-4 days a week in Austin, TX.

Bonus Points: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.
