The Team: Product Knowledge Science

The Product Knowledge team is at the epicentre of eBay’s tech-driven overhaul. We build and maintain eBay’s Product Knowledge system—a massive Big Data ecosystem comprising listings, transactions, products, and advanced Knowledge Graphs.

We are a multidisciplinary team of ML experts, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers dedicated to solving complexity at scale.

The Role: ML Architect / Team Lead (T27)

We are looking for an exceptional Machine Learning Architect to lead the automation and scaling of our data-heavy processes in Bengaluru, India. You will tackle diverse challenges such as Image Quality Scoring, Automatic Taxonomy Improvement, and high-level Entity Resolution.

As a T27 Lead, you aren’t just building models; you are envisioning how separate AI projects converge to create “Surprise and Delight” experiences for millions of global customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with Product Management to shape the department’s vision and long-term technical roadmap.

• System Design: Design, deliver, and maintain significant features in data pipelines, ML processing, and service infrastructure.

• Technical Excellence: Build and deploy production-grade Machine Learning models (Classification, Regression, NLP, Deep Learning).

• Scientific Rigor: Promote high standards for code quality, craftsmanship, and scientific validity within the team.

• Mentorship: Guide junior peers, review complex codebases, and foster a culture of continuous learning.

• Public Impact: Present novel research and technical work at global public forums and top-tier conferences.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements

• Education & Experience: * BE/B.Tech with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • OR M.Sc./Ph.D. with 7+ years of industrial experience in Applied Machine Learning.

• Technical Mastery: Industrial experience in NLP, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or Clustering.

• Coding: Proficiency in production-grade coding (Python or Java).

• Big Data Stack: Hands-on experience with Spark, Hadoop, SQL, and scalable data processing frameworks.

Additional Assets (Preferred)

• 5+ publications or patents in top-tier journals/conferences.

• Contributions to Open Source tools.

• Specific experience in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Knowledge Graph (KG) building.
