We are looking for a Principal Data Analyst to join our dynamic Business Analytics group. This role is ideal for a senior analytics professional with deep expertise in data science, product insights, and strategic storytelling. What You’ll Do

As a Principal Data Analyst, you will report directly to the Director of Data and become a core driver of our long-term analytics vision. Your work will influence content strategy, enhance learning outcomes, and guide strategic priorities across Udacity’s growing portfolio.

Your responsibilities include:

🔹 Lead High-Impact Curriculum Analytics

Conduct advanced analysis of Udacity’s curriculum, course performance, and learner behavior to optimize content design, ensure industry relevance, and fuel learner success for both consumer and enterprise programs.

🔹 Develop a Strategic Analytics Roadmap

Partner with content, learning, and product leaders to translate business goals into actionable data insights. You will play a central role in shaping the analytics strategy for Udacity’s entire content ecosystem.

🔹 Define and Monitor Key Performance Indicators

Work with senior stakeholders to establish KPIs that measure curriculum health, engagement, ROI, and learning impact—ensuring data-driven decision-making across teams.

🔹 Centralize Learner Feedback and Experience Signals

Integrate feedback, performance metrics, and behavioral data to identify learning gaps, content pain points, and areas for improvement, informing prioritization and roadmap updates.

🔹 Build Scalable Methods to Measure Content Effectiveness

Develop frameworks that connect learner outcomes, engagement metrics, and content performance to measure overall program quality and success.

🔹 Contribute to AI-Driven Analytics Systems

Collaborate on building intelligent systems that leverage NLP, embeddings, and predictive modeling to classify learner feedback, understand learning behaviors, and forecast success.

🔹 Communicate Insights That Drive Strategy

Act as a trusted thought partner across Content, Product, and Business teams—translating complex analytics into clear, influential insights that shape strategic decisions.

🔹 Mentor and Lead Analytics Initiatives

Provide mentorship to junior analysts and lead cross-functional analytics programs to elevate data maturity across Udacity.


What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics or data science roles

  • Strong background in product, content, or learning analytics—preferably in EdTech or SaaS

  • Expertise in Advanced SQL (Athena, Presto, Redshift, etc.)

  • Strong proficiency in Python for analytics, ML, and automation

  • Experience with BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or equivalent

  • Knowledge of experimentation, A/B testing, and causal inference

  • Ability to manage large-scale projects and influence senior stakeholders

  • Exceptional communication skills and business storytelling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with tools like Amplitude, dbt, Airflow

  • Familiarity with clickstream or sequential data

  • Exposure to NLP, embeddings, or GPT-based feedback analysis

  • Understanding of instructional design or learning science
