 About the Role: Architecting Data for an Offline World

In a traditional cloud environment, database engineering is at the center; at Pretlist, it’s about the periphery. You will be responsible for scaling and sharding databases that must synchronise across secure mesh networks without a centralised server.

Key Responsibilities:

• Distributed Database Management: Lead the scaling, sharding, and replication of our distributed NoSQL databases to ensure high availability in P2P environments.

• Cluster Architecture: Design, build, and maintain high-performance Redis clusters optimised for low-latency operations.

• Performance Caching: Architect and implement advanced caching systems to support offline navigation and communication tools.

• P2P Integration: Collaborate with our core networking team to ensure data consistency and integrity across secure mesh networks.

Minimum Requirements & Technical Expertise

We are looking for a senior-level engineer with a deep understanding of how data moves—and stays—in complex, distributed systems.

• Education: BS/BE degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Core Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in designing, building, and maintaining distributed databases.

• KV Store Mastery: 2+ years of experience with Key-Value stores such as Redis, RocksDB, or LevelDB.

• Database Diversity: Experience with Graph Databases (e.g., OrientDB) and Relational Databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).

• Data Interchange Expert: Expert knowledge of DIFs such as FlatBuffers, Cap’n Proto, Google Protocol Buffers (Protobuf), or Facebook Thrift.

• Mindset: A passion for building “Offline-First” architectures and solving the unique synchronization challenges of P2P networks.
