NICSI Internship Scheme 2026: Government IT & e-Governance Training


The NICSI Internship Scheme 2026, offered by National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI), is a premier opportunity for technical students to work at the heart of India’s digital transformation. About NICSI (MeitY)

Established in 1995, NICSI is the corporate arm of the National Informatics Centre (NIC). It plays a pivotal role in procuring and delivering ICT solutions for Central and State Government departments. Having executed over 30,000 projects, NICSI is a cornerstone of India’s e-governance ecosystem, handling everything from cloud data centers to national-level application development.

Internship Batches and Duration

The internship is structured into two distinct cycles to align with academic calendars:

  • Duration: Fixed 6 Months.

  • Winter Batch: January to June (Applications open Oct–Dec).

  • Summer Batch: July to December (Applications open April–May).

  • Cohort Size: 10 interns per batch.

Eligibility Criteria for 2026

NICSI looks for students with strong academic backgrounds in technology:

  1. Eligible Degrees: B.E. / B.Tech, M.E. / M.Tech, MCA, or M.Sc in CS/IT/Data Science/AI.

  2. Academic Requirements:

    • Undergraduate: Must have completed/appeared in the 3rd year (4th semester) with at least 70% in Class 12.

    • Postgraduate: Must have completed/appeared in the 1st year (2nd semester).

    • Final Year Students: Eligible to apply provided they maintain a 70% cumulative score across all semesters.

  3. Fields of Study: Computer Science, IT, Electronics, AI/ML, Cyber Security, and Software Development.

Focus Areas & Work Profile

Interns are assigned to active government projects in the following domains:

  • Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)

  • Cyber Security & Compliance

  • AI/ML & Data Science

  • e-Governance Applications

  • System Architecture & DBA

Stipend and Benefits

  • Stipend: This is a paid internship. The amount is governed by current Government of India norms and is subject to official approval.

  • Infrastructure: Interns are provided with office space and access to the necessary IT facilities within the NICSI environment.

  • Certification: A formal completion certificate is issued after the full 6-month term, which is highly valued in both public and private sectors.

Selection Process

The selection is based on a rigorous evaluation of the online application:

  • Screening: Review of academic performance (70% threshold) and technical skills.

  • Approval: Final selection requires the approval of the competent authority at NICSI.

  • Communication: Shortlisted candidates are notified via their registered email address.
