In this role, you will work closely with senior data scientists and cross-functional teams to clean, organise, and transform massive tranches of labour data into predictive models, rich datasets, and state-of-the-art visualisations that reveal how, where, and why the global workplace is shifting.

The Role: Data Scientist
As a Data Scientist, you will sit at the intersection of high-volume data engineering and rigorous statistical modelling to build pragmatic solutions to large-scale labor market problems.
Major Responsibilities:

Large-Scale Data Processing: Utilize SQL and Python to query, transform, clean, and organize complex, high-velocity datasets.

Algorithmic Architecture: Design and deploy pragmatic, scalable, and rigorous statistical or machine learning models directly on top of Lightcast’s proprietary data infrastructure.

Cross-Functional Definition: Partner with product and data engineering teams to define ambiguous problem statements, curate training features, and make technology trade-off recommendations.

Project Execution: Contribute to high-priority research and product tracks under the guidance of senior data scientists, ensuring solutions align with the latest advancements in the field (such as NLP and LLMs).

Insights Delivery: Communicate complex analytical findings and visualizations clearly to internal product leaders and external clients across the globe.
Technical Architecture & Prerequisites
We are looking for an adaptive team player who combines solid programming skills with a strong foundation of statistical thinking.
Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.

Experience: 2+ years of relevant industry experience or graduate research applying statistical, machine learning, or analytical methods.

Programming & Core Tech: Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in machine learning frameworks, statistical modelling, algorithms, and handling large data scales.

Advanced Tooling Focus: Experience or exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Large Language Models (LLMs) for text mining is highly valued.

Visualisation & Productivity: Proficient in data visualisation tools and modern business productivity suites (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, project management tools).

Data Storytelling: Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills—specifically the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
