Role Summary – Lead II Business Analysis (BSA)

This is not a traditional product owner role. The organisation is seeking a technically strong Business Systems Analyst (BSA) who:

  • Has prior engineering experience

  • Is deeply passionate about data

  • Understands enterprise systems architecture

  • Can improve data platforms from ingestion to value realization

You will work closely with data leaders, architects, and cross-functional teams to enhance enterprise data capabilities and ensure high-quality requirement traceability.

Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Enterprise Business Analysis Leadership

  • Independently analyse complex business needs and recommend optimal solutions.

  • Guide and mentor junior Business Analysts.

  • Act as the face of the team to customers and stakeholders.

  • Align solutions with enterprise goals and transformation initiatives.

2️⃣ Data Platform & Engineering Focus

  • Understand how data is ingested, curated, catalogued, linked, and purposed.

  • Ensure proper data governance and lineage practices.

  • Create detailed data definitions, mapping documents, data dictionaries, and function mappings.

  • Optimize data structures to maximize product and AI platform value.

3️⃣ Requirements Engineering & Lifecycle Management

  • Champion requirements elicitation using interviews, workshops, surveys, document analysis, and modelling techniques.

  • Own requirement traceability in JIRA.

  • Develop and drive adoption of tools, templates, and processes.

  • Maintain high-quality documentation of artefacts and process flows.

4️⃣ Cloud & Database Expertise

  • Work with both relational and non-relational databases.

  • Collaborate on AWS and Azure cloud environments.

  • Ensure alignment between system design and data architecture principles.

5️⃣ Solution Evaluation & Strategic Analysis

  • Use metrics and financial/business data to evaluate solution effectiveness.

  • Conduct risk analysis and scenario planning.

  • Recommend improvements that deliver measurable business value.

6️⃣ Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and negotiation discussions.

  • Influence decision-making across multiple teams and time zones.

  • Develop engagement strategies supporting organisational transformation.

Required Skills & Expertise

Technical Competencies

  • Strong database knowledge (SQL & NoSQL).

  • Understanding of data engineering pipelines and governance frameworks.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS & Azure).

  • Proficiency in modelling tools, requirements management technologies, and prototyping tools.

  • Knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies.

Business Analysis Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of BA techniques, including:

    • Process modelling

    • SWOT analysis

    • Financial analysis

    • Root cause analysis

    • Stakeholder mapping

    • Use cases and user stories.

    • KPI and metrics evaluation

Behavioural & Leadership Skills
