The Role: Principal Data Scientist

We are seeking a visionary technical leader to head the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models for our Global Manufacturing and Engineering operations. You will act as a bridge between Smart Manufacturing Strategy Leads and site-level engineering teams to drive business goals through data-driven innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End ML Leadership: Lead the full lifecycle of ML models, from exploratory data analysis to production-grade deployment in manufacturing environments.

• Technical Consulting: Partner with site teams to identify, evaluate, and implement optimal AI solutions for complex industrial problems.

• Mentorship: Coach data scientists and engineers to elevate the organisation’s collective technical expertise.

• Full-Stack Prototyping: Conduct interviews and build prototypes (including UI/UX with AngularJS) to validate use cases and demonstrate ROI.

• Data Engineering: Perform feature engineering on massive structured and unstructured datasets, including time-series and image data.

Required Technical Stack

• Languages: Fluency in Python (Analysis/Modelling) and SQL (Data Extraction).

• Frameworks: Expertise in TensorFlow, Keras, or similar deep learning libraries.

• Big Data: Proficiency in cloud-based analytics and distributed computing (PySpark, Hadoop).

• Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and anomaly detection.

• Software Engineering: Strong OOP principles and familiarity with full-stack development (AngularJS/UI/UX).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Advanced visualisation skills using Tableau or JavaScript.

• Exposure to ETL/SSIS and API development.

• A research background, including papers published in CVPR, NIPS, or ICML.
