🌟 About the Role – Data Analyst

As a Data Analyst at Sutherland, you will focus on analyzing complex scientific and business datasets to uncover actionable insights. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, and engineers to design data solutions aligned with real-world operational needs.

This role combines deep analytical expertise, strong business acumen, and hands-on experience with modern data tools and Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities – Data Analyst

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing complex scientific and business datasets to extract actionable insights

  • Mapping business process rules to ensure data solutions align with operational workflows

  • Creating insight-driven solutions that improve visibility into key KPIs and performance metrics

  • Conducting deep-dive analyses to solve complex business problems

  • Engaging with business stakeholders at all levels to gather and document requirements

  • Developing business flow diagrams and data flow diagrams

  • Performing data profiling, mining, and validation/testing to ensure data quality and reliability

  • Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries using SQL Server to identify patterns and anomalies

  • Leading requirements workshops and managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles

  • Working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams

  • Designing dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively

  • Handling ad-hoc analysis and presenting findings in a user-friendly format

  • Acting as Scrum Master and preparing detailed user stories for development teams

Qualifications & Skills – Data Analyst

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Master’s degree in MBA, Information Systems, or Computer Science is a strong advantage

Core Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent requirement-gathering and documentation skills

  • Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories

  • A strong business mindset with a focus on improving data management practices

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and in team environments

Industry Experience

  • Prior experience in Life Sciences or Biotechnology is a plus

Technical Expertise Required

  • 5+ years of experience in:

    • Writing complex SQL queries

    • Data mining, profiling, and validation/testing

    • Business Systems Analysis or Data Analytics (senior or lead role preferred)

    • Organizing and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles

  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as:

    • Power BI

    • Tableau

    • Looker

    • MicroStrategy

  • Strong experience working in Agile Software Development environments
