About the Role: Data Analyst (Retail & Merchandising Intelligence)
Are you a data practitioner with a background in corporate retail networks, predictive demand modelling, and inventory tracking? JCPenney is hiring a full-time, permanent Data Analyst to join its digital analytics center of excellence. This high-impact position is designed for analytical problem solvers bringing a minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in retail, supply chain, or merchandising reporting.
As a Data Analyst at JCPenney, you will serve as the primary engine for inventory optimisation and commercial insights. Your daily responsibilities will center on translating raw retail logs into visual, executive-ready performance metrics. You will write robust SQL and Python extraction routines, manage multi-layered dashboard architectures across Power BI and Tableau, and leverage cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning tools to drive predictive analytics and automation. Partnering with Plano leaders, buyers, and cross-functional inventory managers, your insights will directly guide high-stakes planning and allocation strategies across hundreds of stores.
Key Responsibilities & Retail Analytics Workflows

Retail Metric Solutioning: Collaborate with buyers, business analysts, and Plano leaders to map and fulfill complex business reporting requirements, providing deep-dive support for strategic inventory planning.

Cross-Functional Allocation Support: Partner with corporate sales and supply chain squads to analyze historical sales data, identify seasonal buying patterns, and optimize product allocation models.

Enterprise Dashboard Architecture: Develop, stress-test, and maintain high-fidelity reports and interactive visualization tools using Power BI, Tableau, and MicroStrategy to track retail KPIs.

Data Extraction & Cleaning: Extract, sanitize, and manipulate messy raw datasets from distributed internal data structures, data warehouses, and Inventory Management Systems (such as JDA or PIM).

Predictive AI/ML Modeling: Leverage advanced AI, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analysis methodologies to deploy predictive analytics, demand forecasting, and decision-support automation.

Process Automation Engineering: Maximize organizational efficiency by engineering automated workflows using Power Automate and Power Apps to eliminate manual data collection.

Required Experience & Educational Baseline:

Professional Tenure: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated professional experience in retail reporting, merchandising analysis, or supply chain analytics frameworks.
