The Role: Data Scientist III

As a Data Scientist III based in our Chennai, India office, you will join the Data Science team within the EBS Pillar. You will leverage cutting-edge machine learning, statistics, and optimisation techniques to solve complex business challenges across retail and finance domains.

This is a high-impact role where you will transform raw data into actionable insights, build scalable models, and collaborate with global engineering teams to deploy solutions that enhance decision-making across Walmart’s vast ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End ML Development: Lead medium to large-scale data science projects from ideation to production deployment.

• ML Ops Excellence: Contribute to the development of ML pipelines and best practices in ML Ops to ensure model reliability.

• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders to propose data-driven solutions and translate analytical insights into recommendations.

• Advanced Modelling: Develop and implement statistical and machine learning models (Classification, Regression, NLP, Forecasting) with a focus on scalability.

• Platform Innovation: Deploy models in production environments using cloud tools like Vertex AI, Kubeflow, GCP, or Azure.

• Big Data Integration: Work with large-scale datasets using Python, PySpark, Hadoop, and Hive.

• Future-Tech Exploration: Identify opportunities for Generative AI (GenAI), including embedding generation, vector databases, and prompt engineering.

What You Will Bring (Qualifications)

• Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.

• Experience: 3-5+ years of proven experience in data science with a track record of leading complex projects.

• Technical Stack: * Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark.

  • Expertise in Machine Learning techniques (Regression, NLP, Optimisation).

  • Experience with Cloud Platforms (GCP/Azure) and Big Data (Hadoop/Hive).

• Product Mindset: Ability to build maintainable, reusable, and scalable data science solutions.

• Communication: Strong ability to influence business decisions through data storytelling and clear communication.
