Job Overview – Data Consultant

As a Data Consultant, you will act as a strategic bridge between business stakeholders and technical data teams. This role requires strong analytical thinking, stakeholder communication skills, and hands-on experience with data management and analytics technologies.

You will identify business data challenges, translate them into structured analytical solutions, and drive insights that enable informed decision-making. The position demands leadership capabilities, technical expertise in SQL and BI tools, and exposure to modern data architectures.

Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Business & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Clearly identify and articulate data and analytics problems to business stakeholders and end users.

  • Translate business challenges into actionable data-driven solutions.

  • Partner with user communities and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define analytics requirements.

  • Design meaningful KPIs and performance metrics aligned with business goals.

2️⃣ Data Strategy & Analytical Solutions

  • Anticipate, structure, and propose functional solutions for complex data challenges.

  • Provide recommendations for data extraction, integration, and analysis.

  • Support enterprise data strategy initiatives, including governance, quality, and modernization.

  • Collaborate with Data/BI/Analytics Architects to provide inputs for data modelling and architecture.

3️⃣ Data Analysis & Visualization

  • Analyse large datasets using SQL and visualization tools.

  • Conduct quantitative analysis and interpret business insights.

  • Design dashboards and reports to support executive decision-making.

  • Ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance of analytics outputs.

4️⃣ Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead high-performance teams of architects and developers.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality analytical insights.

  • Work effectively in global, cross-functional, and virtual team environments.

  • Contribute to Agile delivery models and iterative development processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mandatory); Master’s degree preferred.

  • 5–10 years of relevant IT experience in data consulting, analytics, or BI roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience in SQL and data visualization tools.

  • Proven experience translating business problems into data-driven insights.

  • Experience working in Agile environments.

Preferred Skills & Technical Expertise

Candidates with exposure to the following areas will have an advantage:

  • Data strategy, governance, architecture, and modernization initiatives.

  • Master Data Management (MDM) and data quality frameworks.

  • Experience with dimensional modelling, ETL processes, and BI tools.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.

  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java.

  • Understanding of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics ecosystems.

  • Experience working with data lakes and enterprise data platforms.
