Role Overview

As a Data Analyst at Optum India, you will work closely with business leaders, operations teams, and IT/data engineering departments to deliver actionable insights. Your primary focus will be on analysing large datasets, building dashboards, optimizing reporting processes, and supporting strategic decision-making.

This role combines technical analytics expertise with strong stakeholder management and communication skills. You will translate complex healthcare and operational data into meaningful business narratives.


Key Responsibilities

1. Business & Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with business leaders to understand goals, KPIs, and operational challenges.

  • Convert business problems into structured analytical requirements.

  • Define measurable success metrics and expected outcomes.

  • Present insights and recommendations clearly to senior management.

2. Data Analysis & Insights

  • Analyse large, complex healthcare and operational datasets.

  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis for performance issues.

  • Build descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive insights.

  • Develop hypotheses, test through data, and propose actionable solutions.

3. Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Design and automate dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.

  • Build KPI trackers for operational, financial, and quality metrics.

  • Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and governance.

  • Maintain data integrity across reporting layers.

4. Process Improvement & Project Support

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization.

  • Support ROI analysis and business case development.

  • Participate in cross-functional analytics initiatives.

  • Collaborate with IT/Data Engineering teams to improve data pipelines.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR

  • Master’s degree in Computer Applications (MCA)

Experience

  • 2+ years of analytics or business analysis experience.

  • Demonstrated impact of analytics-driven recommendations on business performance.

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar.

  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.

  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, Power Query).

  • Knowledge of statistical concepts and analytical methodologies.

  • Proven track record of delivering accurate and timely dashboards.

Business & Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability.

  • Ability to translate data insights into compelling business narratives.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
