We’re on an exciting digital transformation journey, and our Data & Analytics team plays a crucial role in this evolution. If you’re passionate about using data to uncover insights, influence strategy, and drive tangible business results — this is the role for you!

About the Role

Location: Leeds, UK (Hybrid)
Department: Data & Analytics
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Mid-Level (2–5 Years)

As a Data Analyst at Asda, you’ll work with large, complex datasets to uncover trends, provide actionable insights, and support strategic initiatives across departments. You’ll collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and data engineers to design and deliver analytical solutions that empower teams to make data-driven decisions.

Your work will directly impact key business areas such as customer loyalty, sales performance, store operations, and supply chain efficiency. The ideal candidate will be curious, detail-oriented, and able to communicate insights in a clear and engaging way to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, clean, and interpret data from multiple sources (internal systems, market reports, digital platforms, etc.) to identify business trends and performance metrics.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, data visualisations, and automated reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.

  • Perform detailed statistical analyses and create predictive models to forecast future trends and support strategic planning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including marketing, operations, finance, and merchandising — to translate data insights into business actions.

  • Communicate complex analytical findings in simple, actionable language for senior management.

  • Support the creation and implementation of data governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across systems.

  • Continuously monitor performance indicators, highlight anomalies, and recommend corrective measures.

  • Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and industry best practices to help shape Asda’s data strategy.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.

  • 2–5 years of professional experience as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data manipulation.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualisation tools.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools or programming languages such as Python or R.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong communication abilities — able to present data findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement and learning.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience in retail, FMCG, or e-commerce analytics.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google BigQuery.

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts or advanced data modelling.

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and ETL pipelines.
