About the Role: Data Analyst – Advanced Analytics & ML
Are you an experienced, detail-oriented data professional looking to build and deploy advanced analytical frameworks within a highly visible global company? BP is accepting applications for a Data Analyst – Advanced Analytics position based in the thriving technology center of Pune, India.
Operating under a permanent contract within the Data Science & Machine Learning team, you will act as a vital bridge between business strategy and cloud engineering. In this mid-to-senior level role, you will work extensively with Python, SQL, and Power BI to design automated analytical workflows, maintain data quality pipelines, and deploy predictive models. You will partner directly with multi-disciplinary squads—including Product, Core Engineering, and Cloud Architecture teams—to frame complex supply, operational, and commercial challenges into scalable machine learning-powered solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Analytics Workflows

Partner with Tech & Business Leaders: Collaborate with technology stakeholders to design, develop, and scale AI and ML-powered solutions that drive measurable business value.

Execute Advanced Predictive Analytics: Build and refine machine learning models (including regression, classification, and clustering) to uncover trends within massive datasets.

Automate Data Workflows: Utilise Python and SQL extensively to automate legacy business workflows, engineer robust features, and ensure high-tier data quality.

Develop Executive Dashboards: Build, deploy, and maintain interactive, automated dashboards and reporting streams using Power BI for high-level decision support.

Collaborate on Model Deployment: Work hand-in-hand with cloud data engineering squads within modern environments like AWS Redshift and Databricks to push models into production.

Deliver Scenario Analyses: Handle ad-hoc decision support requests, performing rigorous data exploration to solve tough, ambiguous problems with clear insights.
Candidate Prerequisites & Technical Capabilities
This role requires a strong balance of technical depth, mathematical understanding, and practical experience navigating cloud data environments.
Required Technical & Professional Expertise:

Academic Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative or STEM discipline (such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or an equivalent field).

Professional Track Record: 3 to 5 years of proven experience operating in Data Analytics, Data Science, or Machine Learning. (Note: The client’s base tool qualifications accept foundational experience starting from 1-2 years, but the core role tier prefers steady exposure up to the 5-year bracket.

Programming Mastery: Excellent practical skills in Python or R utilizing core machine learning libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch in Jupyter environments.

Database Engineering: Highly proficient in writing complex SQL scripts to query, join, and clean large, diverse transactional datasets.

Statistical Foundation: Strong grasp of data analysis methodologies, statistical modelling, and model evaluation metrics.

Data Visualisation: Hands-on experience building clean, automated reports and production-grade dashboards using Power BI.
Preferred Skills & Advanced Tech Exposure (Bonus Points):

Familiarity with navigating cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS (S3, EC2, Redshift) or unified data analytics platforms like Databricks.

Familiarity or direct exposure to advanced analytics concepts such as Market Mix Modelling (MMM), Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
