Role Scope & Strategic Architecture

The MBA Finance Manager Intern serves as a strategic business partner to Amazon Japan business leaders, taking ownership of data-intensive analytical projects, financial modeling, and long-term business strategy:

Core Responsibilities

  • Multi-Year & Annual Business Planning: Lead financial forecasting, multi-year strategic plans, and sales/profit dimension modeling for specific retail categories (e.g., Consumables).

  • Variance & Performance Auditing: Conduct continuous forecast vs. actual variance analysis, auditing operational assumptions and demanding corrective actions from business partners.

  • Commercial & Launch Simulations: Perform financial evaluations for pricing strategies, product sourcing models, new category/store launches, and vendor co-promotions.

  • Capital & Headcount Stewardship: Oversee budget allocations, approve cost/fee structure proposals, and support month-end financial close workflows in partnership with global finance teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Academic Enrolment: Currently enrolled in a full-time MBA or equivalent master’s degree program graduating between December 2027 and September 2028.

  • Work Experience: Minimum 3+ years of full-time professional experience prior to starting the MBA program.

  • Domain Experience: Minimum 3+ years in corporate finance, management consulting, or investment banking/financial institutions.

  • Language Proficiency: Business-level fluency in English (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Japanese Language: Business-level fluency in Japanese (written and verbal).

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or related quantitative fields.

  • Advanced Experience: 5+ years of progressive corporate finance leadership, advanced financial modeling, and complex multi-variable business case design.
